Say what you want about the Wii, but nobody can deny Nintendo's dominance in the handheld market. Today the big N announced that DS sales have surpassed 47 million making it “the best selling US system of all time”. But wait, according to Sony, the almighty Playstation 2 had surpassed sales of 50 million in 2009. As for Nintendo's other record of 2010, the publisher said that for the third consecutive year, Wii sales in the US surpassed more than 7 million. According to Nintendo, the triple-crown effort is the first accomplished by a home console in the nation. Nintendo went on to note that the Wii has now sold more than 34 million units in the US alone.
I think the 3DS will either be a huge success or a Virtual Boy like failure. We will see.
