In what seems to be a trend in gaming nowadays, the next numerical entry in the Ninja Gaiden series will be more of a reboot than a sequel (then why put 3? I digress.) Yosuke Hayashi, the head of team ninja seems to want to take the series in a new direction.
“We're developing it with the idea of restarting at the beginning, saying ‘We'd like to make the action game that's most interesting for the current era,'” Hayashi said in an interview with Famitsu.com (via Andriasang). “With this meaning, it's going to be a game that's not bound by the past more than necessary. Of course, we will be valuing the past, but in a good meaning we'd like to make it into a game that's not tied down by the past.”
Devil May Cry is getting the reboot treatment and now this. Gotta say, I don't really agree with rebooting franchises that aren't really broken. I post games all the time which I would loved to be rebooted, but most these franchises are still very marketable. We'll see what the new Team Ninja has in store. Follow VGP for more updates.
